In my role as a cloud architect, I was responsible for designing and implementing a platform that establishes a connection between an on-premises infrastructure and the cloud environment. This platform involved setting up two databases one located in the cloud utilizing Snowflake, and another on-premises utilizing SQL Server. The databases served different purposes based on their security requirements. The cloud-based Snowflake database was utilized for storing data that didn’t have stringent security requirements. On the other hand, the on-premises SQL Server database was specifically designated for housing sensitive data that required robust security measures.

Architecture Design

  • Hybrid cloud connectivity
  • Security-based data separation
  • Cloud: Snowflake (non-sensitive data)
  • On-premises: SQL Server (sensitive data)
  • DataOps implementation
